The Pateliya (Patelia) community traces its roots to the Bhil heritage of western India, with families spread across the Dahod, Mahisagar and Panchmahal regions of Gujarat, and the Jhabua, Dhar and Indore areas of Madhya Pradesh. The name 'Pateliya' comes from 'Patel', meaning a headman or village leader. Traditionally an agricultural community, the Pateliya are known for their close-knit families, rich folk traditions, and a strong sense of unity. Our Samaj brings these families together — to celebrate festivals, support one another, and carry our heritage forward for the next generation.
